Come One Come All!

It's time! The Maple Syrup Festival is upon us! Hubby and I set up the tent this evening, which turned out to be quite an adventure (and just a little stressfull! Got to practice our marriage skills, though!) =O LOL!! The wind was just a bit breezy, which turns canopies into large kites! Thankfully, we had already planned on weighting it down, so were prepared.

Look for us in front of the post office. Traffic flow through town is a bit hairy- so just be prepared to walk a bit. But, it's so worth it - a friendly town, nice weather, great entertainment, bows, Haitian linens... =)

Each festival time, I have to decide what styles to focus on. It's gotten easier as I know what sells, but it's still easy for me to go overboard. I'm pretty pleased with myself for coming up with a variety of styles while trying to keep it simple. I think. After looking over my list, it seems like so many styles - but I finally decided I just couldn't leave any of these beauties out! So, here's what's on the "menu" for this year:

Cosmos - I'm hoping they'll be my "attention-grabbers"! I think it will work - they're just so darling! =)

Of course, one of my faves and one of my "signature" items - the mini korker! I sell them individually at the festival, so if you'd like to get just one, this is your chance.

Another of my "signature" items - and another favorite - the marabou puff.

One of my most popular bows - the Pinwheels - in small and large.

Gracie Bows - small and large

Medium basic bows

Pretty Petals clippies and Daisies

One item I make that you may not be aware of. It's not in the catalog yet, but I have been making them for a while now - French boards. These are great as bow holders, photo collages, messages, little papers your kids make and expect you to treasure. =) I really expanded my selection of these for the festival - loads of great new patterns!!

And of course, I can't forget my absolute, all-time favorite!! The Rufflie bow in regular and Mini!! =)

Sheer Rosettes

I also have a really cool collection of local school colors in several different styles - double pinwheels, spikey bows, cheer bows, pony-o's, korkers, etc. And headbands of course.

So, ready to come see all the lovely colors and styles? Come check me out (and my mom!!) We'll be in front of the post office tomorrow from 9-9 and Saturday from 9-8. Hope to see you there!!

Which reminds me - I did make a slight adjustment to my "special of the month" program. Now, the special is only available to those who are on my e-mail list. So, if you want to be included - just sign up!

I'm getting ready to do some new listings on etsy tonight! Time to gear up for Valentine's Day! Yes, already!!

There should be quite a few new etsy listings and blog postings appearing this month, with new products and styles. I have so many ideas swirling around in my head! I can't wait for the kids to get back to school, hubby back to work (well, I wouldn't mind if he stuck around) =) get the house back in order, and then it's PROJECT TIME!! Yay for winter days, stuck inside with no gardening, camping, or canning! I really am a summer person, so at least I have something I can like about winter! =)

Just Havin' Some Fun!

People often tell me I'm creative, and I just laugh inside. Some days it flows, but most of the time, it's just not there. I have a dirty little secret I'll share - (I copy - alot). Shh, don't tell! I've got quite a collection of pictures of bows that I like, that I've gathered from the internet. The other day I was in the mood to try experimenting a little. So, I opened the file, and a little examination... a little experimenting... I don't usually end up with the same thing. But, that's probably better anyway! Here's a couple results from my messin' around:
Here's a super sweet bow made with double ruffle ribbon with sheer ribbon on top. I have to admit, this one was hard to make. Not difficult, just hard emotionally. See, I'm such a big double ruffle fan, that it's hard for me to add anything else to it. But, when I saw the finished product, I did fall in love with it. It's so soft and puffy, it's almost "marshmallowy"! Don't think that would work as a name though! =O

This turned out so cute! I forgot about this leopard-print sheer I had stashed away. It was fun to do something a little out of my normal color scheme/personal taste range. It's similar to a "Princess Bow," but with a "Gracie Bow" base and marabou thrown in.

Gracies

Diana loves it when I do braids in her hair, which I think is really amazing! I definitely needed some practice before posting pictures - it's just a little trickier doing them in someone else's hair! =) Here she is modeling her braids - and Gracie Bows.

p.s. - keep an eye out for a new style coming soon - I've been working hard on this one, and I think you're going to love it!! (Those of you at Bethany's party who got a sneek preview - don't give it away!!) =)

Another Great Model!

Meet Ane - the inspiration for the "Ane Bow" and a very sweet, pretty girl. She and my son Kenneth have been "sweet friends" from the moment they met (when they were just over two years old), and it was so much fun to be able to take some "modelling" pictures of her.
I am thrilled to be able to show you some of the styles that look great on an older girl. Here she is modelling the "Large Basic Bow."

Large "Gracie Bow" looks darling sweeping up the side.

Elena bow makes a great presentation on a pigtail.

And probably one of the most fun bows I have - the "Spikey Bow" - doesn't it look so cute??

May newsletter

The May newsletter went out this morning. I didn't get one sent last month, as all my spare time went toward getting ready for the festival. And, since I have plenty of bows left over, the special this month is to help reduce some of that. Buy three, get one free! Included styles are: small and large pinwheels, small and large Gracies, Elenas and medium basic bows. Great time to get your "basics"!

The Elena Bow

Here's a fun bow! I love the shape of this one! (I know, I know, I say every new one that comes out is my favorite!) =) This is my "Elena" bow. It's related to the "Gracie" bow, in that it has the same folding technique. Which works out well, because the two little namesakes are sisters! This bow is made with 1 1/2 inch ribbon for a larger bow, or 7/8 ribbon for a smaller bow:I've been having a lot of fun with this bow! It even has a lovely boutique version:
